Toenail polish and remover are two of the most toxic items in our make-up bags. (Can you say formaldehyde? This is just one little fab ingredient among others that are carcinogenic and wreak havoc on our nerves and endocrine systems.)
So what's a gal to do? Here are just a few things to lessen the toxic impact:
- Choose a formaldehyde-free polish. (Don't worry, they come in the same razzle-dazzle colors.)
- Instead of removing that chipped and ugly polish, touch-up or paint over it. (The less often you use remover, the better.)
- Wear a ventilation mask when using remover that contains acetone. (Buck up, it could look sexy.)
I consistently do two of the above. I'm working on the third.
